The competition

The free-Gantt field, honestly

Every tool below is good at something, and each row says what that is before it says where the free timeline stops. A comparison that shades the truth is worth less than no comparison at all.

Where each tool’s free Gantt chart stops, with a link to the vendor’s own pricing page for every claim.

ClickUpClickUp gives you more surface area per dollar than anything else here, and its view system is genuinely powerful. The Gantt view is metered on Free Forever — roughly 100 uses of it, and then the free timeline is over. Unmetered automation sits on Enterprise, which has no published price.clickup.com/pricing
TeamGanttTeamGantt is a Gantt tool first, and it shows — the drag-and-drop planning is some of the cleanest in the category. The free plan is one project with a ceiling of 40 tasks. A second project, or a 41st task, means a paid manager seat.teamgantt.com/pricingsupport.teamgantt.com · checked August 1, 2026
AsanaAsana has the cleanest task model in the category and is genuinely excellent at cross-functional structure.Timeline is a paid-plan feature; the free plan has never carried it. And the free plan itself is thin now: Personal — hard 2-user cap for accounts created on or after 12 Nov 2025.asana.com/pricing
Monday.comMonday's dashboards and board customization are good, and it sells the feeling of momentum better than anyone. No Gantt on the free plan, and that plan is 2 seats, 3 boards. Paid starts at a 3-seat minimum, with seats sold at the fixed rungs of their own selector rather than per head.monday.com/pricing
SmartsheetSmartsheet is the best grid-first work tool there is, and at enterprise scale its depth is hard to replicate.A limited free plan for a single user. Beyond that it's $9 a seat on Pro and $19 on Business, with a 3-seat minimum — and controlled external sharing is a separate $125-a-month add-on.smartsheet.com/pricing
GanttPROGanttPRO is a dedicated Gantt tool and it does the job well. If a timeline is genuinely all you need, it's a fair pick.No free-forever tier at all — a 14-day trial, then per user per month.ganttpro.com/pricing · checked August 1, 2026
SahngaUnmetered timeline, dependencies, no task cap — free for one person, $5/person for teams, flat.

Competitor terms checked July 2026 against each vendor's own pricing page, linked on every row. TeamGantt and GanttPRO are Gantt-first tools that sit outside that tracked set, so they carry their own date instead: we read their published pages directly on August 1, 2026, and each of those rows says so. Questions

Free Gantt chart FAQ

Is the free Gantt chart limited?+

No. There is no use meter on the timeline, no cap on tasks or projects, and no feature held back for a paid tier — the whole product is free for one person, timeline and dependencies included. The price changes only when a second person starts creating and editing work.

Do I need a credit card?+

No, and you never will to use the free plan. You only reach a payment form when your team grows past one person and you decide to add a paid seat.

What happens when my team joins?+

Every person who creates or edits work is $5 a month and the first one stays free — flat, with no upsells. Viewers, commenters, guests and clients are unlimited and never count. Seats settle at renewal, so adding someone mid-month costs nothing until your next bill, and no prorations ever appear on it.

Can clients see the plan without an account?+

Yes. A public roadmap link shows goals, their date ranges and their progress to anyone who opens it — no sign-up, no app, nothing to install. Task titles, comments and member names are never on that page, and the link is revocable whenever you want it gone.
