What Trello gets right

Trello is still the friendliest board on the internet. Nobody has ever needed a manual to drag a card, and that is a genuine achievement most of this list can't claim.

The honest take

The board is lovely; the bill around it is Atlassian's. Free stops at 10 boards and 10 collaborators — and guests count against that 10 — while the views growing teams want (timeline, calendar, dashboard) sit on Premium and SSO is a separate subscription on top. The May 2025 redesign landed badly enough that The Register wondered aloud whether it was the worst in tech history, and Atlassian has been steering bigger Trello teams toward Jira ever since.

The bill, in plain words

Sahnga's arithmetic never changes: $5 a month for every maker after the first — the same rate at 10 people, at 200, at 1,000, with no tier to climb and no Enterprise number to negotiate. Trello bills per seat the whole way up too — the difference is what the seat includes, and who never counts. Viewers, commenters, guests and clients are free on our side at any size.

The switch

Why teams switch from Trello to Sahnga

Moving your work off Trello

Sahnga imports a Trello JSON export in one pass — boards become projects, lists become statuses, cards keep their descriptions, checklists, labels, due dates and comments. Export from Trello's own board menu; nothing is locked and you can keep the Trello board open while you check the import.

Questions

Sahnga vs Trello FAQ

Is there a flat-priced Trello alternative?+

Sahnga is flat where it counts — the seat, not the total: $5 for each person who creates or edits, one maker free, and that rate never climbs a tier at 10 people or 1,000. The total isn't one fixed number; it's your maker count times $5 and nothing else — no minimums, no rungs, no add-ons, and viewers, commenters, guests and clients never count. There are no tiers to climb: unmetered automations, timeline and dependencies, time tracking, full history, the API and one-click export are in every plan, including Free.

How much does Trello cost for a team of 10?+

Ten people on Sahnga is $45 a month — $5 each with the first maker free, and unlimited viewers, guests and clients on top at no charge. Matching that feature-for-feature on Trello means Premium plus Atlassian Guard Standard, which comes to about $140 a month for ten at their best published rate.

Does Sahnga import from Trello?+

Sahnga imports a Trello JSON export in one pass — boards become projects, lists become statuses, cards keep their descriptions, checklists, labels, due dates and comments. Export from Trello's own board menu; nothing is locked and you can keep the Trello board open while you check the import.

Does Trello charge extra for SSO?+

Effectively yes. SSO and user provisioning come from Atlassian Guard, a separate subscription at roughly $4 per user per month, or you move to Trello Enterprise at $17.50 a seat with a 50-seat minimum. When SAML and SSO land, they're on every plan — Free included — at no extra cost. We will never charge you for logging in securely.

Does Trello charge for guests?+

Not directly, but on the Free plan guests count against the 10-collaborator limit, so a few clients can push you onto a paid plan. Multi-board guests are an Enterprise feature. On Sahnga, viewers, commenters, guests and clients are unlimited and never count toward the bill.

Is Trello Free enough for a small team?+

For a couple of people on a handful of boards, honestly yes — that's why it's beloved. The wall shows up at 10 boards per Workspace, 10 collaborators including guests, 250 automation runs a month and 10MB attachments. Sahnga's free plan is one maker with unlimited viewers and guests, and it carries the full feature set rather than a trimmed one.

$5 a person, every feature on every plan, and a full export whenever you want it. Trello stays exportable too — you lose nothing by trying.
